Softball Recap: Orange Glen Patriots vs. Classical Academy Caimans
Orange Glen extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-11 in the process. They lost 18-1 to the Classical Academy Caimans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Caimans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 back in April.
As for Classical Academy, the victory got them back to even at 10-10. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Classical Academy's part, Eleri Evans made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Evans has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalia Gonzalez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Sydney Bischoff was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Coincidentally, Orange Glen and Classical Academy will both be playing Guajome Park Academy the next time they take the field. The Patriots will host the Frogs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Caimans will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
