Baseball Recap: Logan Peed and Brayden Conley Secure Win for Kewanee

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rock Island, Kewanee was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Mendota Trojans get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Boilermakers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won three in a row.

Not much got past Landon Sheets, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Mendota off the board. Sheets also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kewanee is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Kewanee let Brayden Conley and Logan Peed run wild. Conley went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Peed got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Conley has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brady Schiltz, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Kewanee's record now sits at 8-10. As for Mendota, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7-1.
