Basketball Recap: Richmond Hill's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Richmond Hill came into Friday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 38-26 victory over the Tift County Blue Devils on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 60th).

Kaden Lawson and Cordell Nelson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lawson dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards, while Nelson posted no points in addition to 14 rebounds and six blocks. The dominant performance gave Lawson a new career-high in boards.

Richmond Hill's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Tift County, they moved to 15-6 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Richmond Hill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-56 win against Glynn Academy on the 1st. As for Tift County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-42 victory against Lowndes on the 1st.
