Dayton extended their losing streak to 17 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 10-18 in the process. They fell 5-0 to the Lowry Buckaroos. If the Dust Devils were looking for revenge after losing 13-1 to the Buckaroos when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

LaSade Conti was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Lowry, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

Like Dayton, Lowry also got a great game from a two-way player: Makinley Hislop. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Hislop has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Hislop wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maite Bengochea, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

While Dayton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
