Recap: Riverton Wolverines vs. Natrona County Mustangs
On Thursday, the Riverton Wolverines faced the Natrona County Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Riverton fell 60-50 to Natrona County. Riverton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Natrona County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blake Gantenbien, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gantenbien has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Parker Paxton, who scored 16 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Riverton and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Natrona County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Riverton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against South at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. South is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Natrona County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Douglas at 4:30 p.m. on January 6th.
