Softball Recap: Jackson's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

Jackson lost against Green back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Polar Bears came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 9-3. The game marked the Polar Bears' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Courtney Helle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gabbi Williamson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jackson fell to 4-1. As for Green, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Jackson is set to challenge their familiar foe Hoover at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Polar Bears 3.6, the Vikings 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Green will square off against rival Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
