18 must be Leechburg's lucky number: they beat Summit Academy with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Blue Devils blew past the Knights 18-3. Considering the Blue Devils have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jake Cummings made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cummings was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Whitlinger, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Henry, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Leechburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Leechburg, bringing their record up to 15-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Summit Academy, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Looking ahead, Leechburg will challenge Burrell at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Summit Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
