Basketball Recap: East Mountain Timberwolves vs. Cuba Rams
East Mountain lost against Cuba back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The East Mountain Timberwolves were beaten by the Cuba Rams 70-42. The Timberwolves just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

East Mountain's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Cheney, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Cheney has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Jodie Tillman was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.
Even though they lost, East Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.
Cuba was led to victory by Denale Sandoval and Cara Toledo. Sandoval went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Toledo went 8 for 16 on her way to 17 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Ignacio, who posted six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
East Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Cuba, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-12.
East Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-42 victory against Bosque on the 6th. As for Cuba, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-40 win against Cottonwood Classical Prep on the 6th.
