Softball Recap: Fort Frye Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Fort Frye won the last time they faced Shenandoah and things went their way on Thursday too. Fort Frye came out on top against Shenandoah by a score of 8-4.

Elle Casto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmen Henniger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Fort Frye's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Shenandoah, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Fort Frye will welcome Barnesville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Shenandoah, they are taking a road trip to square off against St. Clairsville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Clairsville has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something Shenandoah will no doubt try to take advantage of.
