Softball Recap: Avery County Takes a Loss

Avery County lost to Mitchell back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Vikings fell 10-5 to the Mountaineers. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caroline Hollifield made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Tillie Carver, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Avery County's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Mitchell, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Avery County beat the Mountaineers by a score of 11-10 on Tuesday.
