Softball Recap: Haven Drops Highest Score of Season Against Larned

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Haven). They blew past the Larned Indians 17-2 on Thursday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

Avery Brawner made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Brawner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sophia Faidley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Sierra Yoder also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Haven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .615. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Haven is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Larned, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Haven beat the Indians by a score of 15-5 later that day.
