Southeast Raleigh's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the Smithfield-Selma Spartans. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nicholas Teel tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Ediel Cabrera Cordero was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Josiah Heath, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

With the victory, Southeast Raleigh broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7. As for Smithfield-Selma, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Southeast Raleigh will challenge Fuquay - Varina at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fuquay - Varina's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Southeast Raleigh's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Smithfield-Selma, they will square off against Southern Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Smithfield-Selma is facing Southern Wayne at the right time seeing as Southern Wayne is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
