Baseball Game Preview: Somerville Yeguas vs. Iola Bulldogs

Somerville hasn't had much luck against Iola recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Somerville Yeguas will be playing in front of their home fans against the Iola Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Somerville has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Somerville is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Round Top-Carmine, falling 14-4.

Somerville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Esqueda, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Esqueda is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Iola didn't have quite enough to beat Burton on Wednesday and fell 3-1.

Iola's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Somerville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Somerville skirted past Iola 2-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Somerville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Iola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
