Baseball Recap: Maury's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Maury might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Godwin who claimed the real prize. Maury fell just short of Godwin by a score of 9-8. The Commodores were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in June of 2024.

Maury got a good showing from Henry Mulvey, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Chauncy Ragland made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Landon Carraway was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, Maury fell to 2-1. As for Godwin, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0.

Coming up, Maury will be playing at home against Norview at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Maury's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Godwin, they will venture away from home to take on Greenbrier Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Godwin's pitchers better be ready for this one: Greenbrier Christian Academy has averaged an impressive 11.7 runs per game this season.
