Baseball Recap: Clark Montessori Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Clark Montessori ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the New Miami Vikings. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ethan Ernst and Chase Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ernst struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Williams pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Ernst got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Williams went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Ernst is becoming a predictor of Clark Montessori's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Garvin Dixon, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

Clark Montessori's record now sits at 11-8. As for New Miami, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clark Montessori will challenge Summit Country Day at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Miami, they will face off against North College Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
