Basketball Recap: R.J. Reynolds Takes a Loss

R.J. Reynolds lost against East Forsyth back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The contest between the R.J. Reynolds Demons and the East Forsyth Eagles didn't end well, with the R.J. Reynolds Demons falling 75-61. While losing is never fun, the Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Eagles are ranked 41st).

Despite the loss, R.J. Reynolds still got an impressive performance from JB Johnson, who posted 11 points. What's more, Johnson also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miles Broadnax, who put up six points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, R.J. Reynolds was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

R.J. Reynolds has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for East Forsyth, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

R.J. Reynolds didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-76 loss against Northwest Guilford on the 5th. As for East Forsyth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-38 victory against Northern Guilford on the 5th.
