Football Recap: Reservoir 'Gators vs. Decatur Seahawks

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Reservoir can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 42-12 loss at the hands of the Decatur Seahawks. While losing is never fun, the 'Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Seahawks are ranked 27th).

Decatur got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Johnny Hobgood out in front who threw for 93 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Vernon DeShields III helped Hobgood out on the ground, rushing for 64 yards and one touchdown.

This is the second loss in a row for Reservoir and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Decatur, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Reservoir does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Decatur, they are taking a road trip to challenge Guilford Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panther will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
