Recap: Sterling Raiders vs. Magnolia Bulldogs
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Sterling Raiders, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Magnolia on the road and fell 56-6. While losing is never fun, Sterling can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 780th, while Magnolia is ranked 104th).
Leading Magnolia to victory were Tanner Whittington and Hunter Andrews. Whittington threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes, while Andrews rushed for 74 yards and three touchdowns. Andrews has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played.
This is the second loss in a row for Sterling and nudges their season record down to 7-4. As for Magnolia, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Sterling does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Magnolia will head out on the road to face off against College Station at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. College Station has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 588 points over their last 11 matches.
