Volleyball Recap: Fernley Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fernley waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Spring Creek Spartans. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 3-2 win back in September.

Fernley never let Spring Creek on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-21, 29-27.

Trista Menesini paced Fernley's offense, picking up 16 kills. Menesini got some help from Alauna Escartin and her 38 assists. Escartin also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Emma Masters, each putting up three.

Fernley's win bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Spring Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Fernley will head out to challenge Dayton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Dust Devils have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Spring Creek, after both having extra time off, they and Churchill County will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
