Game recap: Swain County High School Football Team tops Hendersonville

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. - Swain County (Bryson City, N.C.) snapped Hendersonville (N.C.)'s 10-game winning streak, with a 55-24 victory on Saturday.

The Maroon Devils were up 35-3 at the half after taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the first quarter.

Swain County expanded its lead to 52 points entering the fourth quarter. SC scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Garrett Lane.

The Bryson City school put up 28 points in the second quarter en route to the win. The Maroon Devils scored on a Blake Wright touchdown run, a Ray Smith touchdown pass to Greg Tisho, a touchdown run by Smith and a touchdown pass by Smith to Matthew Maennle in the quarter.

Smith stood out for Swain County in the win. He threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.



The Bearcats' Desean Jackson played well. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 28 touchdowns on the season.

The defeat comes as a step back for Hendersonville, which notched a 48-40 victory over Lake Norman Charter in its previous outing.
