Recap: Mercyhurst Prep Lakers vs. Grove City Eagles
The Mercyhurst Prep Lakers were the 47-46 winner over the Grove City Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Mercyhurst Prep received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 56-42 to Grove City. Mercyhurst Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Lakers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddox Brzuz, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brzuz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Bly, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Mercyhurst Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Grove City, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Mercyhurst Prep will be home for the holidays to greet Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northwestern is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Grove City won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Allegheny on December 16th. South Allegheny presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Grove City in Pennsylvania (South Allegheny is ranked 31st, while Grove City is ranked 351st).
