Baseball Game Preview: West Lowndes Panthers vs. Vardaman Rams

West Lowndes hasn't had much luck against Vardaman recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. West Lowndes has given up an average of 16.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Lowndes is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 16-0 to Smithville.

Meanwhile, Vardaman had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 5-0 shutout.

Houlka's batters probably weren't too happy with Brady White, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (he gave up zero walks). White also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Vardaman is 7-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Vardaman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Easley, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Vardaman pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for West Lowndes, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
