Baseball Recap: Academy for Academic Excellence Extends Winning Streak to Four

Academy for Academic Excellence waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle by a score of 10-5. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-2 victory on Tuesday.

Nathan Rudd made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Rudd was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Aiden Carmona was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Keegan Layton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Academy for Academic Excellence's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Academy for Academic Excellence will square off against Victor Valley Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.25 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, they will take on Silver Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagle's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
