Basketball Recap: Kevin Gordon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nunamiut over Susitna Valley

If Nunamiut was feeling good fresh off their 81-52 takedown of Nenana last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Nunamiut Amaguq took a 77-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Susitna Valley Rams on Saturday.

Nunamiut lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kevin Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals. Gordon is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alexander Galloso, who posted 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Nunamiut's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Susitna Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Nunamiut and Jimmy Huntington will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another on February 21st. Nunamiut is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62 points per game this season. As for Susitna Valley, they will take on Birchwood Christian on Thursday.
