Softball Recap: Overton Wins Going Away Against Hillsboro

Overton got themselves on the board against Hillsboro on Tuesday, but Hillsboro never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Burros. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Overton got a big performance out of Trista Norris, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Norris' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Meacham, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Overton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Overton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hillsboro, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Overton is taking a road trip to face off against Hunters Lane at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hillsboro, they will take on McGavock at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Burros will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least ten runs in their last six games.
