Basketball Recap: Summerfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against Gibsland-Coleman

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Summerfield). They walked away with a 69-58 win over the Gibsland-Coleman Bulldogs on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Rebels, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Despite the loss, Gibsland-Coleman still got an impressive performance from Samora Sampson, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 44.8% of Gibsland-Coleman's points, marking the eighth time in a row Sampson has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was DonShayla Rushing, who earned 14 points.

Summerfield pushed their record up to 24-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Gibsland-Coleman, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 16-10.

Summerfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gibsland-Coleman will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Starks at 5:30 p.m. on February 24th.
