Volleyball Recap: Freedom Falcons vs. Acalanes Dons
After flying high against Concord last Monday, Freedom came back down to earth. The Freedom Falcons fell just short of the Acalanes Dons by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dons 25-21 in the first set.
Freedom wouldn't go down easily and took Acalanes into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-21, 25-11, 19-25, 15-12.
Nikkolas Rivera paced Freedom's offense, picking up 13 kills. Rivera got some help from Devin Sandoval and his 16 assists. Rivera was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.
Freedom has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. Acalanes' win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Freedom didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Oakland on the 6th. As for Acalanes, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Monte Vista on the 6th.
