Baseball Recap: Southwest Has No Trouble Against Western Hills

Southwest had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Western Hills on Friday. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on Tuesday.

Jaxon Moss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Ricky Winters was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Moss, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Southwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Hills only posted an OBP of .200.

Southwest's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-17. As for Western Hills, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19-1.

Coming up, Southwest will face off against Springtown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Porcupines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Western Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
