Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Peninsula's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

Peninsula won against Fife last Friday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Seahawks' way against the Kelso Hilanders as they made off with an 11-5 victory. Considering the Seahawks have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meghan Webster made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Webster was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Kyla McCarthy was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Mira Sonnen was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Peninsula kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Peninsula has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games. As for Kelso, their record now sits at 13-8.

Peninsula has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against Enumclaw on the 15th. As for Kelso, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 victory against Heritage on the 15th.
