Baseball Game Preview: Edisto Cougars vs. Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins

The Edisto Cougars will face off against the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Edisto's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jefferson Davis Academy on Tuesday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Orangeburg-Wilkinson waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Dolphins get on the board and left with a 16-0 win.

Xavier Glover was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Orangeburg-Wilkinson's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Glover was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaleb Jamison was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Orangeburg-Wilkinson: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Donovan Hughes, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. They are 6-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Edisto's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
