Baseball Game Preview: Tolman Tigers vs. Wheeler Warriors

The Tolman Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Wheeler Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Tolman's last matchup with Woonsocket could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Tigers came up short against the Villa Novans, falling 7-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Portsmouth Abbey hit Wheeler with a five-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors lost 11-1 to the Ravens. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Ravens: they've now lost five in a row.

Wheeler saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Diaz, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Tolman and nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for Wheeler, they now have a losing record of 4-5-1.

Tolman came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeler in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
