Basketball Recap: Weston Trojans vs. Notre Dame Catholic Lancers
The Weston Trojans lost against the Notre Dame Catholic Lancers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Weston fell 50-38 to the Lancers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Weston in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now lost nine in a row.
Madison Gibbs was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds for Notre Dame Catholic. Gibbs hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Kendra Mitacek was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Weston's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Notre Dame Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weston will take on the Crusaders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Notre Dame Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. New Milford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lancers in Connecticut (the Green Wave are ranked 15th, while the Lancers are ranked 99th).
