Volleyball Recap: Marvin Ridge's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

If Marvin Ridge was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Ballantyne Ridge last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Marvin Ridge fell 3-1 to the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers on Monday. The contest marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Marvin Ridge started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.

Having lost for the first time this season, Marvin Ridge fell to 4-1. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Marvin Ridge is set to face off against their familiar foe Weddington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Legion Collegiate Academy will square off against rival Berry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
