Baseball Recap: Garden Valley Wolverines vs. North Star Huskies
Garden Valley extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They lost 17-0 to the North Star Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, with their most recent loss being a 19-4 defeat on April 5th.
As for North Star, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games.
For North Star's part, Luke Fox made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Fox was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Teague Fox was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Young, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Garden Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Star, they will square off against Glenns Ferry at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies are on an eight-game streak of home wins, the Pilots a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
