Basketball Game Preview: North Pike Jaguars vs. Brookhaven Panthers

North Pike is 1-9 against Brookhaven since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the North Pike Jaguars duke it out with the Brookhaven Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, North Pike opened the new year with a less-than-successful 49-39 loss to South Jones. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Braves are ranked 15th).

Meanwhile, Brookhaven was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 74-69 to Provine. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Brookhaven dropped their record down to 9-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for North Pike, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

North Pike lost to Brookhaven at home by a decisive 59-45 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can North Pike avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
