Basketball Recap: Berea Comes Up Short

After flying high against Casey County on Friday, Berea came back down to earth. The Berea Pirates lost to the Cumberland County Panthers at home by a 70-54 margin on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 61-56 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Berea has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Cumberland County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berea will host Sayre at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Berea is facing Sayre at the right time seeing as Sayre is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Cumberland County, they will face off against Glasgow at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumberland County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Glasgow likes a good challenge.
