Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Green County's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Green County hadn't done well against Taylor County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Dragons skirted past the Cardinals 4-3. The game was the first time the Dragons have beaten the Cardinals on their field since May 30, 2016.

Tatum Durrett looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Andrew Houk was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Blakeman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Green County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Taylor County, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5.

Coincidentally, Green County and Taylor County will both be playing Male the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will host the Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Dragons will host them at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
