Basketball Recap: Hilliard Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Hilliard couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost to the Holmes County Blue Devils on the road by a 56-39 margin on Wednesday. The Red Flashes' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Hilliard still got an impressive performance from Alyssa Hallman, who posted 15 points. Hallman's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Kailyn Ballance was another key player, putting up five points and six boards.

Emma Whitaker was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds for Holmes County. Whitaker has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jacee Bowers, who earned 12 points and three steals.

Hilliard's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Holmes County, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-2.

Hilliard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holmes County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 65-43 loss against Wildwood on the 28th.
