Basketball Game Preview: Owyhee Storm vs. Rocky Mountain Grizzlies

Owyhee has won seven straight games at home, while Rocky Mountain has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Owyhee Storm will welcome the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. Owyhee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.

Owyhee is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Borah, who was ranked fifth at the time (Owyhee was ranked first). Owyhee strolled past Borah with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 46-29.

Owyhee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Beck led the charge by going 6 for 7 on her way to 13 points and three blocks. Maiya Hardy was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain came up short against Eagle on Tuesday and fell 52-43.

Owyhee will have to contain Logan Sailors as she made an impact in Rocky Mountain's last game. She posted 20 points and four steals. That was a full 46.5% of Rocky Mountain's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Wilson, who scored seven points and four steals.

Rocky Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Owyhee, their win bumped their record up to 19-1.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Owyhee just can't miss this season, having nailed 47.4% of their field goals per game. It's a different story for Rocky Mountain, though, as they've only made 35% of their shots this season. Given Owyhee's sizable advantage in that area, Rocky Mountain will need to find a way to close that gap.

Owyhee didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Rocky Mountain in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 43-37 victory.
