Bruton hasn't had much luck against Warhill recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. Warhill took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Bruton, who comes in off a win.
Bruton will bounce into Friday's game after beating Lafayette, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers walked away with a 5-2 win over the Rams on Wednesday.
Ryan Hazelwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Hayden Zimmerman was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of William Muller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bruton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lafayette only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Warhill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Tabb. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lions have suffered since May 22, 2024.
Warhill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Tarantino, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Bruton's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Warhill, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Bruton came up short against Warhill in their previous matchup back in March, falling 9-4. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
