Baseball Game Preview: Damien Spartans vs. Upland Highlanders/Scots

For the second straight game, Damien will face off against Upland. The Spartans will host the Highlanders/Scots at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Damien's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Upland by a score of 3-0. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by exactly three runs.

Rudy O'Dell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elius Kelly, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Bickham, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Damien has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Upland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
