Recap: Woodlake Tigers vs. Delano Tigers

The Woodlake Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 71-22 loss at the hands of Delano. While losing is never fun, Woodlake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1402nd, while Delano is ranked 597th).

Delano found their leader in underclassman Jotham Amodo, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Amodo has scored at least 25% of Delano's points. Another player making a difference was Juan Lopez , who scored ten points along with seven assists and six steals.

Woodlake's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Delano, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Woodlake will finish 2023 at home by hosting Arvin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Arvin is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Delano will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Redwood at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
