Preview: Hertford County Bears vs. Holmes Aces
Hertford County is 10-0 against Holmes since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hertford County Bears will look to defend their home court against the Holmes Aces at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Hertford County's game was all tied up 34-34 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past Currituck County with points to spare, taking the game 79-60. Given Hertford County's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Currituck County is ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jayden Robinson, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Rimiez Williams was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Holmes earned a 72-64 victory over Pasquotank County on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Holmes.
Hertford County pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Holmes, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Hertford County strolled past Holmes when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 66-47. Will Hertford County repeat their success, or does Holmes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
