Softball Recap: Proviso East Pirates vs. Jones Eagles

Proviso East had lost 11 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it 12. They lost 22-5 to the Jones Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 12-11 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Marisela Galvan was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jazlean Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Jones, they will head out to take on Chicago Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.1 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
