Basketball Recap: Coolidge Falls Short of Florence in the Playoffs

Coolidge and Florence squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Coolidge had to settle for second. They fell 65-52 to the Florence Gophers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Gophers this season, with their most recent loss being a 57-48 defeat on February 4th.

When it comes to explaining why Coolidge lost, don't look at Preston Dees. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. What's more, Dees posted three blocks, the most he's had since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jensen Carter, who had 12 points.

It was another big night for Logan Stenson, who went 9-for-15 on his way to 25 points along with six assists and six boards for Florence. Stenson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Brody Ramirez was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Coolidge's defeat dropped their record down to 23-10. As for Florence, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 24-4 record this season.

Coolidge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Florence, they will face off against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Florence surely won't give up without a fight.
