Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Academy Wildcats vs. South Walton Seahawks

The Edgewood Academy Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the South Walton Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Edgewood Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so South Walton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Edgewood Academy easily dispatched Hooper Academy on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Edgewood Academy fell just short of Port St. Joe by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ethan Evans and John Kujala stepped up to the plate in a big way. Evans scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Kujala scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most hits Evans has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, South Walton got themselves on the board against Berryhill on Tuesday, but Berryhill never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Nathan Whitney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Lucas Caraway was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

South Walton's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Edgewood Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
