Softball Recap: Brown County's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Brown County came out on top against Astoria/VIT on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Hornets walked away with a 12-9 win over the Rebels. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brown County got a massive performance out of Taylor Craven, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Craven has posted since back in March. Lilly Ham was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brown County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Astoria/VIT only managed ten hits.

Brown County's record now sits at 5-17. As for Astoria/VIT, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brown County will take on Greenfield/Northwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.65 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Astoria/VIT, they will face off against Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
