Basketball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were outmatched by the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves and fell 54-12. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Timberwolves recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Pineywoods Community Academy had a senior duo take command as Jaziel Reyes posted 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals and Julian Viduarri went 8 of 15 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Viduarri's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Jones, who had eight points and five steals.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, they pushed their record up to 10-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Martinsville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-48 loss against Kennard on the 3rd. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 56-27 victory against Newton on the 3rd.
