Basketball Recap: Jefferson Piles Up the Points Against Manhattan

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jefferson). They blew past the Manhattan Tigers 62-25 on Friday. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.

Jefferson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Michaela Morris out in front who posted 16 points and six rebounds. Those six rebounds gave Morris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryian Eveland, who earned six points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.

Jefferson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Jefferson's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Manhattan, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Jefferson and Lone Peak will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Jefferson is facing Lone Peak at the right time seeing as Lone Peak is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Manhattan, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ennis at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
