Volleyball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Lincoln's Winning Streak

After flying high against Mar Vista last Wednesday, Lincoln came back down to earth. The Hornets came up short against the Sweetwater Red Devils on Friday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Lincoln was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-20, 25-18.

Sweetwater was led to victory by Sergio Salazar and Kalvin Arcedera. Salazar had 12 digs and three blocks, while Arcedera had 14 digs and two aces. Salazar is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. Federico Rosales also deserves some recognition as he had his first dig of the season.

The loss snapped Lincoln's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-5 record. As for Sweetwater, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Point Loma on the 25th. As for Sweetwater, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Brawley on the 25th.
